Didgeridoo
The didgeridoo is a traditional wind instrument that originated in Yolngu country - Northeast Arnhem Land, where it is referred to as the Yidaki. Over time the instrument travelled to other parts of this land and today didgeridoo playing is a widely celebrated craft by many Aboriginal people.
Mirliny have some very talented didgeridoo players who are able to play traditional Noongar songs to accompany traditional dancers. Our didgeridoo players have also been involved with contemporary didgeridoo performances such as working with Symphony Orchestras, international cultural exchanges and performing at live concerts alongside popular singers, artists and musicians.
Mirliny offer didgeridoo performance, didgeridoo lessons and custom didgeridoo making upon request.
**Please note that according to our cultural protocols, didgeridoo playing is strictly reserved for males**
Acknowledgement
Mirliny acknowledges and pays respect to the Wadjak people of the Noongar nation and to their Elders of the past and present, as the Traditional Custodians of the Country on which we live and work.
